Challenge
A large-scale DDoS attack targeted the organization's public IPv4 infrastructure, affecting network stability and creating a risk of service disruption for customers. The objective was to maintain business continuity while minimizing operational impact and avoiding unnecessary downtime.
Solution
After analyzing the attack pattern, I determined that the traffic was specifically targeting our IPv4 infrastructure. I presented a temporary mitigation strategy to management, recommending that critical services be transitioned to IPv6 while the incident was active. Following approval, we coordinated the transition, continuously monitored service availability, and gradually restored IPv4 once the attack had been mitigated.
