IT Consultant in Copenhagen: How to Choose the Right Help for Your Business
Clear responsibilities and deliverables make IT consulting easier to evaluate. Here is what to ask before starting an engagement.

Start with an outcome
Define what should work better.
Agree the deliverables
Separate assessment, changes and handover.
Define completion
Make testing and ongoing ownership clear.
When Outlook causes interruptions, a new employee cannot access shared files, and nobody is certain who manages Microsoft 365, everyday IT becomes a source of friction.
If you are looking for an IT consultant in Copenhagen, start with the outcome you need: what should work better when the engagement is complete?
That might mean fewer recurring incidents, clearer responsibilities, better control over access or a more consistent onboarding process. A defined outcome gives you something useful to assess beyond a list of technologies.
When does your business need IT consulting?
An isolated issue may need support. A recurring issue may also need a review of the configuration or process behind it.
Consider consulting when:
- The same sign-in, email or device problems keep returning.
- Onboarding relies on one person remembering every step.
- Administrator permissions, licences or external access are difficult to track.
- Your team is growing faster than your IT processes.
- You need a planned change to your Microsoft 365 environment.
The engagement should fit the problem. A small team may need a focused assessment. An organisation with an existing IT provider may need additional expertise for a defined project.
IT support and IT consulting: What should you ask for?
Support restores someone's ability to work. Consulting can also examine what should change to make the environment easier to operate.
For example, an employee who cannot open a shared folder needs the immediate access issue resolved. A broader engagement might review how roles, groups and onboarding determine access in the first place.
Both can be useful. Agree whether the consultant will resolve an incident, improve a process or take responsibility for part of your ongoing operations.

What should a Microsoft 365 assessment cover?
The assessment should reflect your working environment and the agreed scope.
| Area | A question the assessment should answer |
|---|---|
| Accounts and access | Who has access, and who holds administrator permissions? |
| Email and calendars | Are ownership and sharing arrangements clear? |
| Devices | How are computers prepared, managed and handed over? |
| Collaboration | Where is business data stored, and who can share it externally? |
| Licences | Do subscriptions match what users need? |
| Operations | Who owns each task, and where is it documented? |
You do not have to include every area in the first engagement. A focused assessment with actionable findings can help establish priorities before a larger project.

Seven questions to ask an IT consultant in Copenhagen
How will you assess our existing environment?
Ask what information is needed, how access will be arranged and what the assessment will cover.
What will we receive?
A findings report, an action plan, configuration changes and handover documentation are separate deliverables. Define them before starting.
How will you prioritise the work?
Ask how business impact, dependencies and implementation effort influence the proposed order.
How will changes be tested?
Establish who approves changes, who tests them and how a change can be reversed if necessary.
How will you work with our current provider?
Clarify responsibilities, points of contact and escalation routes.
What will you document?
Your organisation should understand what changed, why it changed and who maintains it afterwards.
What happens after handover?
Agree whether the engagement ends at delivery or includes support and follow-up.
How much does IT consulting cost?
The cost depends on scope, complexity and deliverables. An hourly rate alone does not tell you the total cost of the engagement.
Ask for an estimate that explains what is included, its assumptions, exclusions and how additional work is approved. Also define what completion means.
For a fixed scope, that might be an agreed configuration with test results and documentation. For an assessment, it might be a prioritised findings report and a walkthrough with your team.
On-site in Copenhagen or remote?
Physical equipment, network troubleshooting and team workshops may benefit from an on-site visit. Other tasks can be handled remotely when access, communication and responsibilities are agreed.
Choose the working arrangement around the task. International teams should also agree the working language and how technical findings will be explained to people outside IT.
Looking for an IT konsulent in København?
Some businesses search for “IT konsulent København” rather than “IT consultant Copenhagen”. The search term is different, but the evaluation should be the same.
Whichever term you use, agree the scope, clarify who is responsible for each task, define the deliverables and decide what a complete handover looks like before the work starts. The questions in this guide apply in the same way.
How I approach an engagement
My work covers IT support, operations and Microsoft 365 for businesses in Copenhagen and the Øresund region.
I start by understanding what exists and which issues affect people's work. We then agree the scope and deliverables before implementation. Documentation and handover help your team understand the result and its ongoing responsibilities.
A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT
Start with the problem you want to solve
Send a short description of your current setup, the issues that need attention and the outcome you want. That provides a practical starting point for deciding what help is appropriate.
